Known Truly exists because of a simple observation: the things that keep memory alive are the things that stay in the room.
First principles
Almost everything we keep of the ones we lose now lives in a phone: thousands of photos, scrolled past, backed up, rarely met. A screen shows you what they looked like. It does not hold still long enough to remind you who they were.
A framed piece on a wall works differently. It is present in the room the way a person is present. You pass it every day, and most days it is simply there – part of the house, part of the household. Then some morning a line catches you again, and you stop, and for a moment they are specific and near.
That is what we are for. Not the fact of a loss – the substance of a life. The nickname, the habit, the story everyone tells at the table. The things that made someone truly known.
The writing is built from your memories. Nothing is pulled from a book of verses. If a line could be about anyone, it is not finished.
You approve before you pay. You see the complete piece, word for word, before any money changes hands, and a person here reviews every order before it prints.
The materials outlast us. Giclée printing on archival paper, in a gallery frame – made to hang for decades, not to be put away with the cards.
Known Truly is a small studio – HD Productions LLC dba Known Truly, based in Missouri. Small on purpose: every order is read by a person, and when you write to us, a person answers.
We make one thing – framed tributes for the people we miss – and we would rather make it well than make more things. The writing carries every piece, so that is where the care goes first.
