1. Who we are
Known Truly is operated by HD Productions LLC dba Known Truly, a small studio based in Missouri. This policy explains what information we collect when you use knowntruly.com, why we collect it, and what we will and will not do with it.
The short version: you trust us with memories of someone you love. We use what you share to make your tribute, and for nothing else. We never sell your personal information.
2. What we collect
To make and deliver your piece, we collect:
- The memories you share. The stories, details, names, and dates you type into the order form. This is the material your tribute is written from.
- The photos you upload. The image of the person the piece honors, which appears in the finished design.
- Contact and delivery details. Your name and email address, and the shipping address you enter at checkout – yours, or the recipient's if the piece is a gift. If you include a gift note, we collect that text so we can print it on the enclosed card.
- Order information. What you ordered, the proof you approved, and the status of your order.
Payment details are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers – we never see it, and we never store it. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle it.
3. How we use it
- To write and make your tribute. The memories you share are used to draft the poem or letter, render your proof, and produce the finished piece.
- To fulfill your order. We pass the finished artwork and the delivery name and address to our professional print partner so the piece can be printed, framed, and shipped.
- To power your tribute page. Each order includes a private online page for your tribute, reachable by a QR code on the card that ships with the piece. Your photo, the writing, and the name you shared are stored so that page keeps working.
- To keep you informed. We send order emails – confirmation, proof, shipping, delivery – through a transactional email provider.
- Remembrance emails, only if you ask. The tribute page lets you save meaningful dates and opt in to a gentle note on those days. This is entirely optional, and every such email carries a one-click unsubscribe.
We also use trusted software services to help us write. The memories you share are processed by an AI writing service to draft your tribute; a person here reviews the result. We do not permit our service providers to use your content for their own purposes.
4. What we never do
- We never sell your personal information, your photos, or your stories. To anyone. Ever.
- We never use your photos or your words in our marketing without your explicit, separate permission.
- We never send marketing email you did not sign up for.
5. Who we share with
Only the service providers who help us make and deliver your order, and only what each one needs:
- Stripe – to process your payment.
- Our print partner – the artwork file and the delivery name and address, so the piece can be printed and shipped.
- Our email provider – your email address and the content of the messages we send you.
- Our AI writing service – the memories you share, to draft the writing.
We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it. That is the whole list.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use a session cookie to keep your order in progress while you build it – without it, the customizer cannot remember your work between pages. We may also use standard analytics tools to understand how the site is used (which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from) so we can improve it. Analytics data is used in aggregate; we do not use it to build advertising profiles of you.
7. How long we keep things
We keep your order information, photos, and writing for as long as needed to fulfill your order, support you afterward (replacements, reprints), and keep your tribute page online. If you would like your information deleted, see the next section.
8. Your choices
- Access or correction. Write to us and we will tell you what we hold about you, and fix anything that is wrong.
- Deletion. Email us at [email protected] and we will delete your personal information, your photos, and your tribute page. Please note that deleting the tribute page means its QR code will stop working.
- Unsubscribe. Every optional email we send includes a one-click way out, and we honor it immediately.
9. Children
Our site and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted plainly, not buried.
